Only way for me to try to improve at the Off-Road Duathlon is to get out and Run/Bike/Run.

Mentally this is a challenging session and for sure can be physically challenging as well.

Yet seemingly every time I am involved with this type of session and complete the training, it always feels so right!

Fifty has been feeling just about right recently.

50 miles seems to be the preferred distance to my recent rides.

50 usually gets me close to 4 hours cruising time. I like to do 4 hour rides, just feels like I am getting my money's worth.

50 usually allows me to ride a bunch of different terrain.  I like to see the sights and enjoy the ride on hills and flat roads.

Doing 50 miles allows me to cover a bunch of ground and take on all kinds of gradients in the ride profile.

50 miles have been the go to target for the past few cycle sessions and I am liking that number.... 50+.

Setbacks and injuries are never good and yet sometimes
can suddenly appear at the most least likely
time you would ever imagine or expect.

Best to view a setback simply as a setup for a comeback.
Bad things, injuries and setbacks are going to happen when your dream is to compete at your highest level and be
your very best for the sport.

No matter how bad the issue is, work to get past the setback and fight super hard to make a comeback toward being
even better then you were before.

This is the true sign of a champion.
Facing adversity and using it to motivate and inspire yourself
to improve and work to be better then ever as a
athlete and person.

After working today, I pumped out a
2 hour bike ride & 40 minute run.
Felt super sore today in my legs and lower back as yesterday was my first run in a long, long time.
Bike-Run workouts.... SO FUN!

TODAY 5/1/18

First run session today since what seems like a long time before the Sea Otter Classic.  Sea Otter Classic is always a grind for me and it is hard to find time to do any quality training as that
event nears and then passes.

Felt extra nice to run today for 45 minutes up and down hills.  Running just feels so right to me. Even if I lack proper practice or have not run much in the past many years.

Thank you to all the ROAD Cyclists who make the CCCX racing so great and so much fun!
